Breathing

Breathing is essential to life. It is the elixir of life. Every breath you take permeates the body with life-sustaining oxygen that fuels our minds and bodies. An adequate oxygen supply keeps our minds alert, our cells repair and rejuvenation, and our muscles working for longer periods of time, without tiring.

Chi Kung breathing exercises

Asian and other cultures believe that the air is infused with a life-sustaining energy of its own. However we look at it, breathing is essential. We teach breathing techniques to be used in the massage and reflexology sessions when our clients want to add this extra dimension to their experience.

We also teach gentle movement and breathing exercises called Chi Kung. Having stood the test of time for thousands of years in Asia, these exercises are slow graceful movements similar to Tai Chi.

Chi Kung requires very little space, no special clothing or equipment, no complex patterns to memorize. It can be performed by any age or capability - even those bedridden or recovering from illness!

This jewel of health infuses the body with life-enriching oxygen and energy, lubricates the joints, and removes blockages to allow energy to flow evenly throughout the body.

Gentle Stretching

Massage and Reflexology treatments often include gentle stretches to loosen tight muscles and improve flexibility and range of motion. This is an enjoyable and gentle way to regain mobility following periods of inactivity (long work periods, travel, illness, and more).

We also teach stretching for all fitness levels. Suitable for home, office, on the sports field, and even in the car or dental chair!

Therapeutic Touch

This form of therapy is performed by first by nurses in clinical settings in the 1970s, and was quickly adopted by massage therapists and others in the healing profession. As such, Therapeutic Touch has its roots in working with the pregnancy, children, traumatic injury, seriously ill, and the dying. It is performed without touching the client.

therapeutic touch

According to Susan Wager, MD, "therapeutic touch is based on the idea that there is a universal healing energy available to all living things and that we live in an orderly universe." The main benefits are a sense of calm, pain reduction, more energy, increased self-confidence, and a sense of an "inner self that is a source of strength and intuition."
